The Niklas-Wilson Sommer chapter at 1. FC Nuremberg came to a tragic end. On the last weekend in August, the influencer, who has a million followers on Instagram and also played as a right-back for the club's regional league team, was attacked on his doorstep - just a few days after he had appeared in public in the FC Bayern jersey. Since that night, Sommer has no longer played a sporting role in Andreas Wolf's team and has not been in the FCN reserve squad once. After the physical attack, the full-back was initially signed off sick. His contract was finally terminated in mid-January.
The exact reasons for the separation remained unclear for a long time, even though a return to daily business after such an incident seemed hardly conceivable. Now, however, the influencer has spoken out for the first time: in one of his streams on the Twitch platform, he broke his silence and explained the reasons for the termination of the contract.
After a few weeks, my family was also contacted privately. That was the end of it for me.
The attack left deep scars on Sommer. "I had extreme panic attacks, I had extreme problems with my privacy. Because it's not normal to be intercepted in front of your own front door in the evening," explains the 26-year-old.

Nevertheless, he decided to carry on as normal. "After a few weeks, my family was also contacted privately. That was the end of it for me." All of this was no longer proportionate, it was "no longer even remotely understandable or justifiable." As a result, both parties parted ways "quite normally and amicably."
German market closedWhat's next for Sommer? In the winter he is said to have had offers from the Austrian Bundesliga, but he turned them down. At his new club he wants one thing above all else: to put the fun of football back in the foreground. But one thing is clear to him: "I think the German market is closed for me personally."
